Oh my god。 Favourite book ever。This book portrays mental illness and trauma so well, and for anyone whos seen this film - this book is so much more intimate and I personally love it even more。Aspects of it are so relatable that I had to shut the book and just take a minute。 It had me in tears ine minute and laughter another。 Amazing。 Please, if anyone ever reads another book, I want it to be this one

It has the best epilogue i have ever read。

This book is so much more than a book。 It perfectly captures adolescence and how confusing/exciting/terrifying it can be。

Nearly didn’t buy the book because I saw movie years ago and don’t remember being that moved, but I’m glad I did。 This boom feels very true, and the naivety feels quite sweet, which may be why it feels quite like a surface level approach to such deep topics。

Content warning ****child abuse**** talk of suicide ****A slow burner yet a really easy read。 I think because it's well written and quite short with decent pacing yet the subject content is quite heavy sometimes。 Charlie is such a great character :) So is Bill too actually - he's the first person to believe in Charlie which is great also。 Content warning ****child abuse**** talk of suicide ****A slow burner yet a really easy read。 I think because it's well written and quite short with decent pacing yet the subject content is quite heavy sometimes。 Charlie is such a great character :) So is Bill too actually - he's the first person to believe in Charlie which is great also。 。。。more

A bit young for me but still well done and interesting。 A flashback to high school and all the attending angst。。。。

technically i’m still reading this but i only have a bit left, i liked the characters and plot but i found it to be a little boring? something about the way it’s written (in letters but also just how everything is described) makes it seem like it could’ve been much more, but it feels washed over and not very in depth like i thought it would be。 overall its a pretty good book, i definitely would recommend reading it either way, this is just my personal opinion。 to be quite honest i think it’s jus technically i’m still reading this but i only have a bit left, i liked the characters and plot but i found it to be a little boring? something about the way it’s written (in letters but also just how everything is described) makes it seem like it could’ve been much more, but it feels washed over and not very in depth like i thought it would be。 overall its a pretty good book, i definitely would recommend reading it either way, this is just my personal opinion。 to be quite honest i think it’s just a bit overrated? because of its high praise, i was expecting more tbh。 still an interesting read though:) there are a good bunch of really good quotes。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I really liked the book but in the end Charlie says that he can’t blame his aunt for what she did because then he would have to blame the guy who assaulted her and someone who did something to that guy。。。But that doesn’t make sense? Of course he can blame her。 And he should!

Watched the movie junior year of high school and finally got around to reading the book as a sophomore in college, book is definitely better

This book is my favorite of all times。 The writing ain’t that impressive or anything。 It’s just the message that this book delivers。 I love how the plot goes and the ending shows an insight to human nature and how one thing could lead to another and the consequences of certain actions。 Seriously, if you haven’t read this book, you are totally missing out !!

I’m not sure what I expected of this book but it was more emotional than I thought it would be。 The way we got to experience Charlie’s life through his letters was engrossing and I really wanted to understand what had happened to make Charlie feel the way he did。 I’m not going to include a spoiler but I thought it was well explained and written in such a considerate way。I really enjoyed the format and writing style and it made me feel connected to the story。 The narrator did a great job too。Real I’m not sure what I expected of this book but it was more emotional than I thought it would be。 The way we got to experience Charlie’s life through his letters was engrossing and I really wanted to understand what had happened to make Charlie feel the way he did。 I’m not going to include a spoiler but I thought it was well explained and written in such a considerate way。I really enjoyed the format and writing style and it made me feel connected to the story。 The narrator did a great job too。Really enjoyed the book and I think it includes some powerful messages around mental health and abuse (both physical and mental)。 。。。more

“‘He’s a wallflower。’。。。‘You see things。 You keep quiet about them。 And you understand。’”“You can’t just sit there and put everybody’s lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love。 You just can’t。 You have to do things。”

(4。5) such a great coming of age story。 i would like nothing more than to get my own tunnel moment where i feel infinite as well。

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWERThis YA novel is narrated by Charlie, the titular ‘wallflower’。 Set in 1991, he is a 15 year old boy who the night before he starts his freshman year of high school starts writing a series of letters to a stranger, with these letters cataloguing Charlie’s attempts to not just be a wallflower but to participate。Charlie talks about tough, sensitive issues。 He has lost his aunt Helen, his favorite person in the world, and also his best friend, who has committed suicid THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWERThis YA novel is narrated by Charlie, the titular ‘wallflower’。 Set in 1991, he is a 15 year old boy who the night before he starts his freshman year of high school starts writing a series of letters to a stranger, with these letters cataloguing Charlie’s attempts to not just be a wallflower but to participate。Charlie talks about tough, sensitive issues。 He has lost his aunt Helen, his favorite person in the world, and also his best friend, who has committed suicide。 After standing on the sidelines and being an observer for so long, he soon becomes friends with Sam and Patrick, who introduce him to the world of friendship, love, drugs, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and what it is like to be 'infinite'。 Having Charlie speak through letters is a stroke of genius as everything feels so 'real', you really feel Charlie's emotions right along with him and it helps the audience connect with the characters a lot more。I loved that this story transports us to the ‘90s(but it is still relatable), it is brimming with references to film, TV, books and music of that era, such as The Smiths and Nirvana, 2 of my favourite bands ever! To fully get engrossed in this world, I would definitely listen to them whilst reading this especially to “Asleep” by The Smiths。 Overall, this book is sad, heartwarming and very charming。 Stephen Chbosky does a great job of conveying the highs and lows of high school。 Many have said that this novel can be considered a modern day version of Catcher in the Rye。。。so I will definitely be adding that to my TBR。 。。。more

Este libro me fascinó , me encantó la historia de Charlie y todo se sentia tan real, el trauma que sufrio。 Habla sobre cosas tan reales y es un libro que todo adolescente debe leer。

lili tañeza

this is like john green’s ultra-pretentiousness meets the nonstop suffering of a little life and i disliked all of it (also - i mainly wanted to read it before watching the movie turns out it was removed from netflix so ? this was all for nothing)

Evelyn Picon

Todos la trama de este libro está perfecta para un adolescente y para entender que no somos los únicos que nos sentimos como Charlie。

I absolutely loved this book, and it’s now one of the few books that has made me cry。 What made me cry, you ask?The afterword。 The author did something really great with that, and it pretty much made this book one of my favorites。
